RESIDENT SECTION
The current chair is:
Dr Brigit Albiston
Dalhousie University
Halifax, NS
Email: brigit@dal.ca
The Resident Section was established in 1986 as a result
of combined efforts of residents and several CAP officers. By 1988, it was
a fully recognized section of the CAP, and the residents representing the
section were given full voting privileges in the CAP Council. Its initial
goals were to promote the quality of resident training and provide a
communication network for Canadian pathology residents.
Over the years, the mission, goals and
functions of the Resident Section have evolved and expanded. Presently,
its role can be summarized as follows:
-
Represent pathology
residents as a unified voice to the CAP Executive
-
Stimulate ongoing
resident membership and participation in the CAP
-
To act as a
communications network for Canadian Pathology Residents and exchange
information with similar associations
-
Participate in the
Annual Meeting by organizing Residents’ Symposium and Dinner,
providing monitors for CAP workshops and encouraging residents’
presentations in the scientific program
The Resident Section meets regularly at the
Annual Meeting, and all residents are invited to attend. The program
starts with a business meeting, followed by a presentation by an invited
speaker at the symposium and concludes with a dinner in an informal
setting. The Chair of the Resident Section is selected from the city where
the upcoming CAP Annual Meeting is to be held.
