The CAP Case of the Month is your opportunity to share the wealth of
your interesting, unusual and/or controversial pathology with colleagues
across Canada. Cases from all organ systems and subspecialties are
welcome.
Beginning in October 2006, the Canadian Association of
Pathologists, in collaboration with
Objective Pathology Systems
Ltd. is pleased to announce a new "Case of the Month" series
featuring interactive virtual microscopy. This exclusive
web-based service will allow CAP members to appreciate interesting
peer-reviewed cases using innovative pathology software tools that
convert any standard internet-enabled computer into a virtual microscope
that will enable members to interact, share and discuss interesting
pathology cases with colleagues regardless of location and time.
See this technology in action with the the current
Case of the Month or try it
out on your own material by submitting a Case of the Month.
Each case should include:
- A brief Clinical Summary
- Glass slide(s) from the case for scanning (those with slide
scanning capability may submit their own high-resolution, 40X
whole-slide scans)
- Digital images related to the case such as: clinical & gross
photographs, x-rays, molecular and/or cytogenetic studies, flow
cytometry and autopsy
- The Diagnosis and a brief explanation of the decision process.
- A citation to a relevant article(s), preferably one that is
available on the Web in full-text form
Glass slides, scans and other image data should be mailed or
couriered to:
Dr. Douglas Tkachuk
Toronto General Hospital
200 Elizabeth Street
Dept. of Pathology, 11th Floor
Toronto ON M5G 2C4
Submitting pathologists will be expected to grant the Canadian
Association of Pathologists permission to distribute the material. All
original materials will be similarly treated as cases used for courses,
meetings, books and referral, and will be promptly returned to
submitting pathologists. Slide scans done by Objective Pathology become
the property of the Canadian Association of Pathologists.
